SA Grahamstown Pottery Hamburger's Pottery Burgundy Buck - Unusual Piece

This unusual piece of Hamburger’s Pottery from Grahamstown No 956 could have been designed as a pair of bookends.  The item has no chips or cracks but has wear and tear one would expect from a well used vintage item.  There is a mark which looks like a chip but on closer examination it was made during manufacture.
