Item Description

“TRENCH ART” CANNON ONDANGWA ’79 TO ’81

Its the first time I have found any “Trench Art” associated directly with our SA border war.  Unfortunately I dropped the one wheel and damaged the bullet spokes which will need to be repositioned and soldered.   The rest of the cannon is in handmade vintage condition.   I don’t know anything about the du toit on the inscription except that he may have been in the Port Alfred area.  A very interesting item to have in someones collection.   I hope it finds a good home and is a reminder of “Min Dae” and call ups after Matric – an integral part of South African History in those days.   The base is 220 x 120 cms
