Bronze spelter cast lion sculpture - Antique / Vintage English or French? Mantle clock?

Hollow Metal cast lion statue.  The lion is gilded but this has worn through in places, especially under the belly.  There are markings under the paws which are not distinct.  One appears to be 4-10.    Weight .5 Kg and about 15cms long.    This statute looks similar to the Lions which are used on  top of French and English mantle clocks.
