Brass Elephant bell - claw bell - temple bell - 9.5 cm base

This bell is in lovely used condition.  The clapper is the original brass one.  There is a pretty engraved design around the body of the bell with flowers and leaves.  “India” is stamped into the metal under the “handle”  approx 8.5cms  at widest and aprox 9 cms high

The tinkling of an elephant bell reminds me of old period movies where the bell on the hotel desk was often one of these elephant bells.    The really old ones have a lovely history going back many years when they were hung underneath the belly of elephants.  I believe they were used on other animals.
