These books are of no value as books themselves but I feel The Gedenkboek and other with a photo is still quite a lovely piece of antique South African history taking it close to the end of the boer war. There are press cuttings in it as well – presumably later family. I am adding another book which is really badly broken but of interest is a photograph of possibly the same woman who owned the Gedenkboek. The Gedenkboek is printed in dutch, french and english. The journal writers have written in Afrikaans and in English. It seems to me as if the notes in the book have been written by two people or more. The book is dated 1905 in the front the first writing has 1920, with a March one being 1917 – the last writing in pencil in 1937 in afrikaans. One page has a square cut out of it presumably a private writing that was removed. The cover is not in a good condition as the spine is missing, the edges bumped and frayed. Please feel free to ask any questions.
