Two nice examples of traditional Xhosa Beadwork. The black and white choker has diagonal lines which according to Joan Brosters book written in the 60’s – “Red Blanket Valley” are trees. This book is a good reference on Xhosa customs and beadwork. The other green and white work has a cascade of beads from the centre. The closure for the cascade is a pearly shell button. These pieces are not new so the thread may not be very strong. Please ask any questions. The Red Blanket Valley book is not for sale.
